What is Complex Number?

A combination of both the real number and imaginary number is a complex number.

Examples of complex numbers:

  • 1 + j
  • -13 – 3i
  • 0.89 + 1.2 i
  • √5 + √2i

An imaginary number is usually represented by ‘i’ or ‘j’, which is equal to √-1. Therefore, the square of the imaginary number gives a negative value. 

Since, i = √-1, so, i2 = -1
